WebDyserth is an ancient place. It originally comprised several hamlets including Trecastell, Rhyd, and Llewerllyd. Dyserth was once called Dissard which is an old word meaning the site of a hermit's cell. Dissard is probably derived from the Latin word deserta from which we have the word desert.
